Featured Story Lillie Mae
Event Therapy Magazine sat down with award-winning brand strategist, visibility expert, and Founder of Glambitious®, Lillie Mae, to explore the power of being seen with intention. For more than 13 years, Lillie Mae has helped women move beyond simply showing up to strategically positioning themselves for greater influence, opportunity, and legacy.
From producing high-impact experiences and cultivating meaningful partnerships to building platforms that amplify women's voices, she has transformed visibility into more than a marketing strategy. It has become a movement. In this exclusive conversation, Lillie Mae shares how intentional events, authentic leadership, and purposeful positioning can open doors, build lasting credibility, and create opportunities that extend far beyond the room.

1. You’ve built Glambitious® into a globally recognized brand over the past 13+ years. What led to its development, and what was the defining moment when you realized visibility would be your core message?
Glambitious® was created from my own desire to be seen, heard, and taken seriously as a woman building something meaningful. Early on, I realized that talent alone wasn’t enough and that visibility was the bridge between potential and opportunity. The defining moment came when I saw how one feature, one room, or one introduction could completely shift a woman’s trajectory.
2. At the heart of your work is the belief that every woman deserves to be seen. How has that belief shaped the way you design your events and experiences?
That belief is the foundation of everything I create. I design experiences where women are not just attendees, but are positioned, highlighted, and intentionally acknowledged. Every detail is curated to ensure that women leave feeling seen, valued, and more confident in their presence.
3. How do you define “visibility” beyond social media, especially for women who are building legacy-driven brands?
Visibility goes far beyond posting online; it’s about placement, proximity, and positioning. It’s being in the right rooms, on the right platforms, and in conversations that align with your next level. For legacy-driven women, visibility is about being recognized in spaces that create long-term impact, not just temporary attention.
4. You’ve consistently used live events as a platform for brand elevation. What role have events played in positioning Glambitious® as a trusted authority?
Events have been one of the most powerful tools in building trust and credibility for my brand. When women experience Glambitious® in real time, they see the quality, the intention, and the results. That consistency has positioned us as a trusted space for visibility and elevation.
5. When you produce experiences like the Glambitious Brunch series, what are the key elements you intentionally design to ensure both impact and visibility for attendees?
I focus on curation, energy, and opportunity. The room is intentional, the conversations are elevated, and there are built-in moments for women to be seen, whether through speaking, content, or connection. It’s about creating an environment where visibility happens naturally and strategically.
6. Many entrepreneurs host events but don’t leverage them for long-term PR, what are the top ways you turn one event into ongoing media and brand opportunities?
I treat every event like a media moment. We capture content, create stories, secure interviews, and extend the visibility through digital platforms and press placements. One event becomes multiple opportunities when you’re intentional about documenting and distributing the experience.
7. You’ve featured influential voices like Kandi Burruss and Chrisette Michele—how do strategic partnerships and talent curation enhance brand credibility and reach?
Strategic partnerships instantly expand reach and elevate perception. When you align with respected voices, it reinforces your brand’s credibility and attracts a broader audience. It also creates a shared ecosystem where everyone benefits from the visibility.
8. Your brand has been featured on major platforms like Netflix, TMZ Live, and Black Enterprise. How have events contributed to opening those media doors?
Events have been a gateway to those opportunities. When you consistently create impactful experiences, people talk, media pays attention, and opportunities follow. Visibility in real life often leads to visibility on larger platforms.
9. What is one PR strategy you believe entrepreneurs are underutilizing when it comes to events?
They underestimate the power of collective visibility. When multiple powerful women are featured in one space, and all share it, the reach multiplies instantly. That shared amplification is one of the most underutilized strategies.
10. How do you prepare your community to not just attend events, but to be seen, positioned, and remembered in those rooms?
I teach them to show up with intention. That includes how they present themselves, how they communicate their value, and how they engage in the room. Visibility is not accidental; it’s something you prepare for.
11. As someone who leads high-impact spaces, how do you manage the emotional energy and expectations that come with hosting transformational events?
I stay grounded in purpose and preparation. I’m intentional about the energy I bring into the room and create space for authenticity and connection. That balance allows the experience to feel both elevated and genuine.
12. What does “leading with intention” look like for you before, during, and after an event?
Before the event, it’s clarity in vision and curation. During it’s presence and awareness of the room. After, it’s follow-through to ensure the connections and visibility opportunities continue beyond that moment.
13. In your journey, how have you balanced performance (showing up publicly) with personal alignment and mental clarity?
I’ve learned that alignment is what sustains performance. I check in with myself regularly and prioritize peace and clarity so that how I show up publicly feels authentic. When I’m aligned, everything flows with more ease.
14. Your new platform, HERVisibility.com, is redefining how women access opportunities. How does this digital ecosystem complement your live event strategy?
HER Visibility extends the experience beyond the room. It gives women ongoing access to opportunities, media placements, and visibility resources year-round. Together, the platform and events create a full ecosystem for growth and exposure.
15. As you expand into spaces like Martha’s Vineyard and Essence Festival Weekend, what legacy are you intentionally building through these cultural and high-visibility moments?
I’m building a legacy of access and elevation. I want women to be seen in rooms and spaces where decisions, culture, and influence are happening. It’s about creating moments that not only feel powerful, but open doors long after.
16. If a woman walked into one of your events unsure of her voice, what transformation do you hope she leaves with, and what would you say to her directly?
I want her to leave knowing that her voice matters and deserves to be heard. I would tell her that she doesn’t need permission to take up space; she already belongs in the room. Confidence grows when you allow yourself to be seen.
17. What would you share with 13-year-old Lillie Mae today?
Trust yourself earlier and don’t wait for validation. Everything you’re building now is already inside of you. Keep going, even when it feels uncertain.
18. Share any affirmation, mantra, or scripture that you use today to not just help you remain visible to others, but that ensures you see and remember your own wins?
I remind myself that what’s meant for me will not miss me. I trust God’s timing, I honor my growth, and I acknowledge how far I’ve come. That keeps me grounded and confident in every season.
